HAWK DAYS AND FLY-IN OPEN HOUSE

This year we will be having three Hawk Days for students to come in and have their school picture taken, pick up their ID or ASB card, sign up for sports and make purchases (ASB card ($15), yearbooks ($25) and sports fees ($50)).  To avoid the long purchasing line, buy online starting on August 14th through Family Access.  We will also have a VERY limited supply of PE uniforms.  The sizes available are shirts: L, XL and 2XL ($5.00 each) and shorts: XS, S, M, L, XL and 2XL ($5.00 each).   PE uniforms are NOT available for online purchasing - they are only available for purchase in person.  If you need your Family Access login information or help with online purchasing, please contact the school.

They Hawk Days will be divided by grade as follows:

6th grade:  August 28th from 1:00pm-6:00pm
7th grade:  August 29th from 1:00pm-6:00pm
8th grade:  August 30th from 1:00pm-6:00pm

Schedules, locker assignments and teachers will not be available during the three Hawk Days.  These will be available at the Fly-In Open House on August 31st.  If you have students in more than one grade, you can pick any session to attend.

Our Fly-In Open House will be on Thursday, August 31st.  6th grade will be from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 7th and 8th grade will be from 5:00pm-7:00pm.  Students will receive their schedules and locker assignments and have a chance to meet their teachers.  There will be a meet and greet with our new principal, Trever Summers, during each session.  School pictures and purchasing will not be available during the Fly-In Open House.  These will be available during the three Hawk Days (see above).  If you have students in more than one grade, you can pick either session to attend.

If you are unable to attend the Hawk Days and/or the Fly-In Open House, we will have a make up picture day on September 11th during all three lunches in the library.  ID or ASB cards will be issued this day as well.  We will also have a retake day on October 19th during all three lunches in the library.  Yearbook purchases can be made anytime between August 14th and December 15th online or in the main office.  Yearbooks will not be sold after December 15th.  ASB stickers can be purchased at any time throughout the school year either online or in the main office.  Our limited supply of PE uniforms are available for purchase in the main office.  Schedules and locker assignments will be posted to Family Access on August 31st.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

Arlington Public Schools recognizes that purchasing school supplies has ben an increasing demand for our families and a financial hardship for some.  Because we ask for community support for our schools through levies and other fundraising activities, the schools will now provide most of the needed school supplies (including supplies to complete class projects at home).  The only items middle school students will need to provide are binders, dividers and pencils.

Trever Summers selected as new Haller Principal

Trever SummersThe Arlington Public Schools’ Board of Directors confirmed the selection of Trever Summers as the new principal of Haller Middle School during their board meeting on July 10. Read more about Mr. Summers here.

HALLER CREATES A SAFE AND CARING ENVIRONMENT FOR STUDENTS

The teachers and staff at Haller Middle School want to make sure our school is a safe and caring place for your child. As stated in the school board policies and procedures and in our family handbook, harassment, intimidation and bullying will not be tolerated in our school. Our teachers and staff go through training at the beginning of the year to recognize the signs of harassment, intimidation and bullying and report such behavior accordingly.

If a student feels harassed or threatened in some way, they can make a complaint at the school. Informal reports may also be made to any staff member. Such complaints will be appropriately investigated and consistently handled. Students may also submit a report using the SafeSchools Alert incident reporting system that’s available on the front page of our school’s website.

Your child’s safety and wellbeing is a priority for us. We want them to thrive in a positive environment that promotes learning. Please call our main office if you have any questions.

ATTENDANCE and homework requests

If you need to report an absence, please call the attendance line at (360) 618-6401. Homework also needs to be requested through the attendance line.

If you are requesting homework for an absent student, we will be happy to accommodate you on the second full day that the student is absent.  All homework requests need to be made before 10:00 am on the second day.  Any requests received after that will be processed the following day.  Homework can be picked up in the main office after 3:00 pm.
